Job summary

Penn Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Full-Time, 1st Shift Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join the Hematopathology Division’s Special Hematology Laboratory, with a $7,500 Sign-On Bonus.

Responsibilities include performing waived to high-complexity tests under supervision, documenting results for diagnosis, and providing technical support to staff and physicians. Phlebotomy may be required; strong knowledge of lab methods and quality assurance is essential.

Qualifications

• MLS Certification by a knowledge-based exam is preferred (ASCP or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree in MLS or related biological/chemical science or U.S. equivalent.
• Broad knowledge of laboratory methods, quality assurance, and LIS/PC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate and/or high-complexity tests and procedures in clinical laboratory sections under the direction of the Supervisor.
• Performs appropriately requested clinical laboratory analyses on all types of laboratory specimens and documents accurate results; may perform phlebotomy.
