Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Lab Manager – Hematopathology to oversee the hematopathology/flow cytometry division at the ACC 38th Street Molecular Pathology Laboratory. The role focuses on quality, staff supervision, cost control, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all sites.

The successful candidate will lead policy development, QA/QC, and instrument maintenance while coordinating with the Hematopathology Director and AP Operations. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the laboratory science, biology, chemistry or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• NYSDOH Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• 5 years of supervisory experience in flow cytometry.
• Effective oral, written, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates above average knowledge or expertise in dealing with scientific principals involved in the methodology performed; as well as alternative methodologies and their application to a given situation.
• Excellent computer ability.

Responsibilities

• Manages flow cytometry staff: assigns responsibilities, schedules, overtime, and workflow.
• Develops staff development, evaluation, and retention programs.
• Develops and updates laboratory policies and procedures; ensures regulatory sign-off.
• Participates in QA/QC and ensures accreditation standards.
• Monitors budgets and cost containment; uses Epic Beaker data for productivity.
• Oversees equipment procurement and inventory control for flow cytometry.
• Training and supervising residents/fellows as needed.
