Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Georgia seeks a Laboratory Technical Supervisor to lead the assigned section with expertise, guiding technologists and assistants, ensuring analyzer operation and test accuracy, and maintaining readiness for accreditation inspections. This role acts as SME and coordinates with physicians, nurses and patients served by the lab.

The supervisor will manage scheduling, payroll, performance evaluations and staff development, while driving quality and efficiency improvements

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• HT(ASCP) Histotechnician and MLS/MT certifications preferred or required.
• Minimum 5 years of pertinent laboratory experience in laboratory medicine.
• Supervisory experience in a lab setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Technical Oversight: lead area, assist pathologists, ensure data accuracy.
• Analyzer Maintenance: manage analyzers, troubleshoot, ensure readiness.
• Technical Competency: perform analyses, support staff interpretation of results.
• Supervision: schedule staff, conduct evaluations, coach and develop team.
• Training and Development: train employees and document competencies.
• Shift Collaboration: coordinate with shift supervisors for 24/7 goals.
• Quality & Improvement: pursue turnaround time, accuracy, and method improvements.
• Employee Development: mentor staff and manage performance feedback.
• Customer Service & Team: maintain service quality and collaborative culture.
• General Responsibilities: attendance, conduct, policy compliance.
