Job summary

Metals USA in Tulsa, OK is hiring a Helper / Grinder for 2nd shift. You will receive and process incoming material, pick and fill orders, and help organize inventory in the warehouse.

The role requires basic math, ability to read work instructions, and attention to safety. Prior warehouse or heavy equipment experience is preferred; you must wear PPE and stay on site.

Qualifications

• Basic arithmetic to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Basic reading and writing comprehension in English to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals.
• Proficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to read and interpret documents furnished.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience working with Heavy Equipment preferred.
• Detail Oriented with ability to inspect material for quality.

Responsibilities

• Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.
• Tags materials for proper identification.
• Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery.
• Operates yard truck for loading/unloading trailers.
• Operates cranes to load/unload trailers.
• Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers.
• Secures loaded material into truck.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
• Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for production.
• Restocks material
• Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices.

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)

• Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

• Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Steel-toed boots or metatarsal boots
• Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouse

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Helper / Grinder in the Tulsa, OK location. The Helper / Grinder performs an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming material, picking and filling orders from inventory and managing, organizing and retrieving inventory in the warehouse.
