Job summary

BL Harbert International seeks a skilled construction laborer to read plans and assist with concrete work at project sites in the Panama City area. You will perform site duties including digging, forming, scaffolding, traffic control, and equipment signaling. Work outdoors in all weather and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Read plans, instructions or specifications to determine work activities.
• Control traffic near work zones.
• Signal equipment operators to guide machinery.
• Finish concrete using floats, trowels, or powered tools.
• Dig trenches and backfill to grade specifications.
• Position, join, align, or seal structural components.
• Load and distribute materials and tools per project plans.
• Erect or dismantle scaffolding and temporary structures.
• Set up forms for pouring concrete.

Job description

• Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Smooth or finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Position, join, align, or seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections or pipes.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
• Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.

Job Requirements:

• Education – High School Diploma (or GED / High School Equivalence Certificate)
• Able to comprehend documents such as safety rules, have the ability to understand information, ideas, direction and then be able to perform the task or project discussed. Also, to be able to ask questions to insure you understand the information given.
• Must be able and willing to work outside in the elements.
