General Purpose

Works with journeyman and others in the installation and maintenance of plant equipment and other work as assigned. Under the direction of a Journeyman, a Helper may operate hand tools and small power tools necessary to perform unskilled support of the Journeyman if qualified.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Pick up/deliver/fuel vehicles
• Pick up parts and supplies from local vendors
• Run parts and tools to crews
• Sweeping and general housekeeping
• Stripping and breakdown of scrap and salvage material
• Filing of Daily Reports
• Fill water containers for crews
• Other duties as assigned

This is an entry level position. Workers needs to adapt to a variety of tasks and work environments. Must be able to follow instructions closely.

Requirements

• High school diploma or proof of equivalent GED.
• Prior experience with hand tools and small power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, or greater.
• Must have a current Driver License
• Pass a physical exam.

If working outside the Plant worker may stand or walk up to 80% of the day. If assigned inside the Plant may walk 50% of day. Surfaces are variable, uneven ground, paved, grating, concrete or mud.

Preferences

Prior experience working as a helper with Journeyman Lineman or Field operations is a plus.

Knowledge of plant equipment and duties is helpful.
