Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking hardworking team members to support solid waste collection operations. This role emphasizes safety, outdoor work, and strong teamwork to keep communities clean.

Responsibilities include assisting drivers, loading materials, and ensuring trucks are prepared with proper gear while maintaining a professional, customer-friendly demeanor.

Qualifications

• Require good physical stamina: able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 65 lbs regularly and move up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Team player with strong communication and a positive, team-first attitude.
• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
• High school diploma/GED or valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely collect solid waste and recyclables from customer premises and curbside locations.
• Assist drivers with safe vehicle operations, including navigating tight spots and backing up.
• Load waste into collection vehicles and operate compaction equipment safely.
• Audit trucks before heading out to ensure required equipment is on board.
• Perform equipment checks and wear PPE following safety guidelines.
• Tag prohibited waste items, report route issues, and represent GFL professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep Communities Clean: Safely collect solid waste and recyclables from customer premises and curbside locations.

• Pre-Trip Prep: Audit trucks before heading out to ensure all required equipment (brooms, shovels, safety gear) is on board.
• Safety First: Perform equipment checks, follow company and federal/state safety guidelines, and wear proper PPE at all times.
• Customer Interaction: Tag prohibited waste items, report route issues promptly, and represent GFL with a friendly, professional demeanor.
