This is a highly technical aviation position and is under the general direction and supervision of the Air Support Unit (ASU) Supervisor and/or the ASU Maintenance Officer and requires an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's Certificate. Mechanic will be responsible for following all regulations as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Interagency Committee for Aviation Policy (ICAP).
This position is responsible for overseeing and performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance; inspections and corrosion control of aircraft components; and maintain appropriate and accurate aircraft records and logs. Work hours are varied as needed and/or required.
This is an extra help position, working on an as needed basis, without a specific number of guaranteed hours per week.
This job posting is for a merged eligibility list from which all Helicopter Mechanic-Extra Help positions in the Spokane County Sheriff's Office will be filled.

- Copy of current Airframe and Power Plant mechanics (A&P) certificate from the FAA (front & back)

- Copy of Permanent Resident Card AKA "Green Card" (if applicable; front side only)

OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE SCHOOL REGISTRAR OR THEIR THIRD-PARTY AFFILIATE:
Official transcripts from the school of your highest level of education and/or transcripts showing proof of your highest degree obtained must be submitted to the Civil Service office in order to move forward in the hiring process.
All transcripts must be official documents; they cannot be uploaded by applicants to their application.
Examples: If you graduated high school and have some college credits, but no degree, you will need to order BOTH high school and your college transcripts; if you have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and no additional college, then only order the transcript showing proof of your degree; if you have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree plus additional college, please order BOTH college transcripts, etc.

Training & Experience Form
Applicants who meet the minimum requirements and have submitted complete applications will be emailed a Training & Experience Form with a specified deadline.
Oral Board Interview
Oral Board Interviews will be scheduled at a later date for those who submit their complete Training & Experience Form by the specified deadline.
Overall Placement on the eligibility list will be determined by 50% Training & Experience Form score and 50% Oral Board Interview score.
An overall combined score of at least 70% must be achieved in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
PLEASE NOTE: All Civil Service exams, oral board interviews, or any other interview involved with this position must be conducted in-person at the applicant's expense. No Web/Video Conference, over-the-phone, or outside testing facilities are permitted. No exceptions.Seniority level
