Job summary

Prince George’s County Government, through the Office of Central Services, seeks a Heavy Automotive Technician I/II to diagnose, repair, and maintain medium to heavy vehicles. You will work under supervision, performing preventive maintenance and repairs on a range of equipment at the Central Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Capitol Heights, MD.

The role requires one year of mechanical experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of mechanical experience in servicing and maintaining vehicles/equipment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Utilize computer-based diagnostic equipment to analyze and correct vehicle problems.
• Perform maintenance, inspection, and repairs of engines, drive trains, suspensions, braking, and HVAC systems.
• Test drive vehicles to confirm proper repair completion.
• Enter edits and complete work orders in the computerized system.
• Tow disabled vehicles and perform minor road repairs as needed.
