Job summary

Akima Global Logistics in Georgia is seeking a Truck Driver – Heavy to operate commercial and military-style heavy vehicles, transporting Army equipment and materiel while complying with Army, DOT, OSHA, and contract requirements.

The driver will support inbound and outbound movements, perform PMCS, maintain logs and shipping documents, and ensure secure load handling. A CDL and background check are required, with safety and teamwork emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; equivalent work experience may substitute.
• Valid CDL (Class A or B as required) with HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• 3–5 years heavy truck driving; prior Army or contractor logistics experience preferred.
• Familiarity with military or government cargo movement.
• DOT/FMCSA safety regulations knowledge.
• AR 55-355, AR 710-2, and DTR 4500.9-R familiarity.
• Ability to operate heavy trucks and related equipment safely.
• Basic English language proficiency and strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks, tractor-trailers, and flatbeds to transport equipment and materiel.
• Support Army turn-in operations by hauling assets to designated locations.
• Assist loading, securing, and unloading cargo with chains and straps.
• Maintain logs, trip tickets, fuel records, and inspection sheets.
• Comply with DOT, Army safety standards, and HAZMAT rules.
• Coordinate with Army units and site staff for operations.
• Perform PMCS and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Update TC-AIMS II/GCSS-Army when required.
