Job summary

American Trim is seeking a Heavy Truck Component Assembly Operator to set up and run manual and automated assembly equipment for semi-truck components. You will assemble, inspect, and change over equipment while supporting safety and quality standards on the line.

You will work with a team to meet production goals, perform basic troubleshooting, and ensure materials and work instructions are followed. Training is provided on the job for skill development and certification readiness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent preferred.
  • Manufacturing/assembly experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn setup and operation of equipment.
  • Basic reading and math skills.

Job description

American Trim is seeking Heavy Truck Component Assembly Operators to support the production of components used in semi-trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position working with both manual and automated assembly equipment, which may include presses, mechanical and robotic transfer equipment, printers, glue systems and hand tools. Operators are responsible for assembling products, completing equipment setups and changeovers, performing quality checks and working with their team to keep production running safely and efficiently.

We provide on-the-job training, making this a great opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience or strong mechanical aptitude who wants to continue developing their skills.

Schedule & Pay

All shifts include overtime as needed. Scheduled hours may flex based on operational needs.

Base Pay: $17.30 per hour
Shift Differential: Additional $1.50 per hour for 3rd shift

Job Summary

The Heavy Truck Component Assembly Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of manual and automated assembly equipment used to manufacture components for semi-trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles.

This position assembles and inspects products, completes equipment setups and changeovers, stages materials, monitors production and performs basic troubleshooting while working with other team members to meet established safety, quality and production requirements.

  • Assemble heavy-truck components using manual and automated machinery according to established work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Set up, operate and change over applicable production equipment, which may include presses, mechanical and robotic transfers, printers, glue systems and other assembly equipment.
  • Stage and organize assembly components, packaging and other materials required for production.
  • Monitor equipment and production processes and perform basic troubleshooting when production or equipment issues occur.
  • Perform required quality inspections and complete applicable quality and productivity documentation.
  • Work closely with line team members, supervision, Engineering and other support personnel to communicate and resolve production, equipment and quality concerns.
  • Follow established production schedules, work instructions and operating procedures.
  • Safely operate a tow motor/lift truck as required for changeovers, material staging and movement of finished product.
  • Follow all established safety and environmental procedures, including applicable JSA, ESA and ASA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, production or assembly experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn the setup and operation of manual and automated production equipment.
  • Basic experience using hand tools.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment setups, changeovers and troubleshooting within established procedures.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, production requirements and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with other members of a production team.
  • Ability to work within established production schedules and rates.
  • Tow motor/lift truck operating experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete required American Trim tow motor/lift truck training and certification.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, teamwork and dependability.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to:

  • Stand, walk and move throughout the assigned production area for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently lift, handle and/or pack parts and materials weighing approximately 3 to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis.
  • Perform lifting and material-handling activities that may involve large, bulky or awkwardly shaped components.
  • Bend, reach, stoop, turn, twist, push and pull while assembling products and operating equipment.
  • Perform repetitive turning, reaching, lifting and hand movements associated with assembly operations.
  • Regularly use hand tools and other production equipment.
  • Perform work requiring manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and close visual attention.
  • Work with tools and manufactured parts that may have sharp edges.
  • Work around manual and automated machinery, including presses, robotic equipment and material-handling equipment.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, varying temperatures and other conditions associated with industrial operations.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, foot and other protective equipment as required.
  • Work overtime and adjusted hours as required by operational needs.
