Job description

American Trim is seeking dependable Heavy Truck Bumper Production Operators to support our semi-truck and bus bumper manufacturing operations.

This is a hands-on production position where you'll work closely with a teammate to safely lift, position and remove large bumpers from specialized forming equipment. You'll also set up equipment and fixtures, monitor the forming process, and inspect finished parts to make sure they meet dimensional and visual quality requirements.

Schedule & Pay

1st Shift: 5:55 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Thursday

Overtime is required as needed. Scheduled hours may flex based on operational needs.

Base Pay: $17.30 per hour

Job Summary

The Heavy Truck Bumper Production Operator is responsible for operating equipment used to form semi-truck and bus bumpers to required specifications. This position works as part of a two-person team to manually handle, position and remove bumpers from forming fixtures while following established safe-work practices.

Operators are also responsible for equipment and fixture setup, monitoring the production process, inspecting finished parts, completing required production documentation and ensuring products meet established quality standards.

  • Work closely with a teammate in a two-person operation to safely lift, carry, position and remove semi-truck and bus bumpers throughout the forming process.
  • Set up tooling, fixtures and equipment according to established job setup and operating procedures.
  • Operate specialized forming equipment used to bend bumper ends to required specifications.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify finished bumpers meet established quality requirements.
  • Monitor the production process and make approved adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality and production requirements.
  • Follow established job setup, operating, quality and safety procedures, including applicable JSA, ESA and ASA requirements.
  • Communicate equipment, tooling, production and quality concerns to supervision and appropriate Tooling or Quality personnel.
  • Complete required production documentation, including parts completed, downtime, scrap and other applicable records.
  • Maintain tooling and equipment within the responsibilities and training of the position and report repair needs or concerns as appropriate.
  • Coordinate work and communicate continuously with your teammate to safely handle large parts and maintain an efficient production process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operating, metal forming or related production experience preferred.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a two-person production team.
  • Ability to coordinate movements and communicate with a teammate while manually handling large parts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment and fixture setup procedures.
  • Ability to follow written job setup, operating and work instructions.
  • Ability to learn and understand dimensional and visual quality requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection data, quality standards and labeling procedures preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet established production requirements while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, teamwork and dependability.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to:

  • Regularly work with another employee to manually lift, carry, position and remove large semi-truck and bus bumpers during the production process.
  • Coordinate lifting, carrying and positioning movements with a teammate to safely handle large and/or awkward parts.
  • Stand, walk and move throughout the assigned production area for extended periods of time.
  • Bend, reach, turn, twist, push and pull while handling parts and operating equipment.
  • Perform repetitive lifting, turning and material-handling motions throughout the workday.
  • Lift and/or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds individually on a non-repetitive basis.
  • Perform work requiring manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and close visual attention.
  • Work with manufactured metal parts that may have sharp edges.
  • Work around machinery, fixtures and other industrial equipment.
  • Visually inspect parts and perform dimensional quality checks.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, temperature variations and other conditions associated with industrial operations.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, hearing, foot and other protective equipment as required.
  • Work overtime and adjusted hours as required by operational needs.
