Job summary

Gerdau Steel - USA in Petersburg, VA is seeking a Heavy Manufacturing PLC & Drives Electrician to safeguard reliability, elevate safety, and keep production moving. You’ll troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, and high‑voltage circuits up to 480V while supporting crane and hydraulic systems.

You’ll perform pro‑active rounds, read schematics, and maintain electronically controlled systems such as rolling mill loop controls.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heavy manufacturing electrical maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in AC/DC motor theory, PLC troubleshooting, and high-voltage systems.
• Ability to read schematics and confidently use electrical maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Run proactive rounds to detect abnormalities and maintain equipment within specifications.
• Maintain and repair pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems; service rolling mill loop controls and distributed controls.
