Job summary

Gerdau Steel in Petersburg, VA seeks an Industrial Electrician to troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic controls across heavy manufacturing systems. You will perform routine maintenance, read schematics, and support maintenance and production teams in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications include Ramsey Electrical exam, 3–5 years of experience, and ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts on a Dupont 4/3 schedule. Overtime and over 330 hours yearly are included.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heavy manufacturing electrical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motor theory, PLC troubleshooting, and high-voltage systems.
• Ability to read schematics and use electrical maintenance tools.
• Ability to work Dupont 4/3 schedule with 12 hr rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems.
• Perform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities.
• Troubleshoot motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and HV systems.
• Inspect and perform daily maintenance on shop machinery and PLC networks.
• Service pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems as needed.
• Lay out, install, and maintain electronic equipment with control panels.
• Balance loads and wire complex circuits.
• Use diagnostic tools like voltmeters and oscilloscopes for fault finding.
• Maintain records of repairs and materials usage.
• Interpret schematics and blueprints; provide technical assistance.
