Position: Heavy Highway Construction Laborer

General Summary

Responsibilities include erecting, repairing, demolishing, grading, and maintaining structures, often working in a utility capacity and shifting duties as needed without close supervision.

Essential Duties

• Measuring distances, driving stakes, and stretching lines
• Bolting, nailing, aligning, and blocking under forms
• Loading, transporting, and furnishing materials
• Leveling earth to specifications
• Mixing concrete and dismantling forms
• Positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections
• Erecting and dismantling shoring and braces
• Carrying and holding building materials and tools
• Safety: Work safely, promote safety culture, protect coworkers and the public, report safety concerns
• Tools and Equipment: Use of hand tools, hammers, and related equipment

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent experience/training
• Basic math, geometry, volume, and weights knowledge
• Effective verbal communication, reading safety instructions, recognizing hand signals
• Ability to follow instructions, maintain accuracy, perform repetitive tasks
• Adherence to safety regulations and respectful teamwork

Physical Demands

Includes climbing, lifting (up to 100 pounds), standing, walking, and handling materials. Protective gear required. Visual and sensory abilities needed for safety and task performance.

Working Conditions
