Job summary

Cardinal Civil Contracting, LLC is seeking a seasoned Lowboy Driver to move heavy construction equipment between the yard and job sites, including remote and undeveloped sites in the Carolinas. You will plan routes, obtain necessary permits, and coordinate escorts when required, while ensuring loads are secured per FMCSA rules.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical card, and a solid track record with heavy-haul loads.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience, including hauling heavy construction equipment on a lowboy/RGN.
• Valid Class A CDL, current DOT medical card, and driving record acceptable under company/insurance guidelines.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Transport heavy equipment on a lowboy trailer between yard and active sites.
• Plan routes, obtain permits, and coordinate escorts for oversize loads.
• Load/unload equipment safely with proper tie-downs per FMCSA rules.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and report defects.
• Maintain Hours of Service logs and daily paperwork, using ELD and digital tools.
• Ensure safety/compliance with DOT regulations and communicate with dispatch.
