Warren CAT is seeking a Heavy Haul Driver III to operate a class 8 tractor-trailer and move oversized equipment to various destinations. You will securely load/unload cargo and perform inspections to ensure compliance with safety rules.

The role requires a Class A CDL, DOT medical card, and the ability to navigate urban and rural settings while maintaining accurate logs and coordinating with dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report deficiencies.
  • Maintain electronic logs and comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate delivery instructions to supervisors and customers.

Job description

Heavy Haul Driver III is responsible for driving a class 8 tractor and trailer with a capacity of more than 80,000 pounds to transport machinery and materials to and from specified destinations.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive a tractor/trailer (RGN) combination with up to 8 axles, lift axles, flip axles, and a spreader bar.
  • Possess knowledge of and prior experience driving delivery trucks, towing triple axles, liftable axles, flip axles—with or without a spreader bar—and towable construction equipment while operating safely in high‑traffic or congested city zones and in small areas.
  • Haul oversized, overweight machines up to 95,000 pounds.
  • Load and unload the truck, ensuring all cargo is secured according to FMSCA and Warren CAT requirements.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and report deficiencies via the driver‑vehicle inspection report.
  • Operate all construction equipment as required.
  • Receive dispatches, load and secure equipment, transport equipment, and report the status of all loads through our technology devices.
  • Maintain an electronic log in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate with supervisors to receive delivery instructions.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding customers and store operations.
  • Work with customers and vendors frequently and follow directions.
What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma or GED; and one (1) year certificate from college or technical school; three (3) years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class A CDL driver’s license, DOT physical examination (medical card), and a clear driving record.
  • Ability to work effectively with tools and equipment.
  • Ability to make accurate independent decisions, perform duties, and make judgments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills for instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
  • Capability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to perform a work‑related pre‑employment physical.
  • Successful completion of the Work Steps assessment.
  • Flexibility in work schedule.
