Job summary

Black Hills Trucking LLC is hiring for a full-time, on-site Truck Driver in Spring, TX. You will haul freight to drill sites and other locations, while following DOT rules and maintaining safety.

The position requires a valid Class A CDL with endorsements, a clean MVR, and the ability to read safety rules. We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, vision/dental, plus retirement contributions.

Qualifications

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and an attitude conducive to safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements established by the Department of Transportation (DOT), including drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched; travel to outlying locations and drill sites as required.
  • Follow DOT regulations and keep current knowledge of FMCSA rules; report compliance problems.
  • Follow company policies and report compliance issues to supervision.
  • Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets and proper handling procedures.
  • Load and unload freight and equipment at customer sites and worksites.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and emergency roadside repairs when needed.
  • Keep daily vehicle and driver records; comply with agencies and company procedures.
  • Make independent decisions when supervisor is unavailable and report issues.
  • Remain alert to hydrogen sulfide hazards and carry training card at all times.

What You'll Do:
  • Drive truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched, including to outlying locations; travel and work for extended periods as necessary for drill site requirements, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
  • Follow rules and regulations of the industry as required by the Department of Transportation; maintain current knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
  • Follow company policies and procedures as required in the Driver and Operator Standards and Procedures and Driver and Operator Point System. Report compliance problems to supervisor.
  • Read and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all goods being hauled. Know proper handling and disposal procedure for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
  • Know and follow the proper safe methods to load and unload freight, machinery, equipment, and materials at customer locations, drill sites, refineries, gas plants, and other worksites as required.
  • Perform basic maintenance requirements such as replacing hoses, fittings, and couplings. Perform miscellaneous emergency roadside equipment repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and making acceptable temporary repairs.
  • Keep daily written vehicle and personal records as required; comply with rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other federal, state, and local agencies; and follow company policies and procedures to maintain and report truck and driver information.
  • Make sound independent decisions in the absence of an area supervisor based on standard procedures, rules, regulations, experience, and knowledge of the job environment. Call in to report problems or extraordinary circumstances and follow instructions received.
  • Remain alert to potential hazardous concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Is trained in and understands the dangers and ramifications of the presence of H2S and carries H2S training card on person at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and an attitude conducive to safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements established by the Department of Transportation (DOT), including drug/alcohol testing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a DOT physical.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
