Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation in Wolf Point is seeking a Heavy Equipment and Vehicle Technician to maintain and repair automobiles, trucks and construction equipment, diagnose issues and replace worn parts. The role demands basic record-keeping and a valid CDL with MEC.

Applicants must have one year of related experience and formal light or heavy-duty training or certification. Forklift certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as lubrication technician, light duty tire technician, or mechanic’s assistant.
• Formal light or heavy-duty technical training and/or certification(s) will be considered.
• Requires Montana Class A, Type II CDL with no restrictions and MEC.
• Forklift certification must be obtained within 3 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair machinery and mechanical equipment, including automobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks, and construction equipment.
• Diagnose, replace nonfunctional parts, and perform basic repairs without supervision.
• Lubricate, clean, and service parts and inspect tires for wear.
