Harnish Group Inc. in Billings, MT is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our customer shop. You will diagnose, repair, and service Caterpillar equipment, including engines, powertrains, and hydraulics, using CAT tools and standard shop gear.

The role emphasizes cost control, safety, and efficient job planning. A 2-4 year trade program or equivalent experience is required, along with a valid driver's license and forklift capability.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a 2-4 year vocational/technical program or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to operate forklift and heavy equipment safely.
• Experience with CAT products or dealership preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment, including removal, repair, assembly, and installation.
• Diagnose engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment and repair tooling.
• Plan and organize work to control job costs.
• Investigate and identify problems to recommend solutions.
