Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a field service technician to diagnose, repair, and install on heavy equipment and generators across customer sites in Mississippi. You will plan work with the Service Supervisor, prioritize customer needs, and travel accordingly.

You will inspect machines, document service details for billing, share knowledge with teammates, and help customers while maintaining a neat truck and professional appearance.

Qualifications

  • Experience working on heavy equipment or generators preferred.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment.
  • 2+ years of field service experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, MVR and physical.
  • Experience working with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan effective work and travel schedule with Service Supervisor, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and parts availability.
  • Diagnose malfunctions: repair and/or replace worn and defective parts; install new assemblies, adjust devices and controls to correct malfunctions and keep machines in operating condition.
  • Provide tools and parts and arrange for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
  • Inspect, operate, and test machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
  • Report to Service Supervisor such information as name of customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., so that proper accounts can be charged and proper billing can be made.
  • Strive to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meetings of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.
  • Promote and enhance the company image by maintaining a neat personal appearance and keeping the service truck clean, polished, and orderly.
  • Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve.
  • Experienced or advanced servicemen will be expected to train new servicemen or supervise a team of servicemen in the assembling or servicing of large units or in a joint effort on large repair jobs.
