Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician for the 2nd shift. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding Caterpillar and allied equipment, with a starting range of $26.46–$37.84 per hour plus shift differential and a $1,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience with heavy construction equipment and repair.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Self-directed with ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills; ability to accurately diagnose and repair equipment.
• Willingness to work shifts as needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer needs.
• Proficiency in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position.

Responsibilities

• Apply troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
• Service, diagnose and repair both Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed. Reassemble to factory specifications.
• Rebuild any engine and all components (transmissions, differentials, electrical, computers, etc.).
• Perform electrical and computer repairs.
• Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins.
• Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms.

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Shop Technician

Starting Compensation Range: $26.46 - $37.84 per hour + Shift Differential

What You Will Do:
