Job summary

Cianbro is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our Pittsfield, Maine team. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery in a hands-on shop setting.

With a focus on safety and quality, you will troubleshoot systems, replace components, and collaborate with operators to ensure optimal performance. CDL preferred; 5+ years' experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with heavy equipment or construction machinery.
• Brand‑specific technical training is a plus.
• Experience with aerial lifts, telehandlers, loaders, bucket trucks, and cranes is a plus.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, wiring, and other key systems.
• Utilize diagnostic tools, manuals, and software for precise assessments.
• Inspect, lubricate, and adjust equipment to OEM specs and safety standards.
• Collaborate with service writer to track and close work orders.
• Work with equipment operators to understand performance issues and recommend solutions.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and maintain a clean, safe shop environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify malfunctions.
• Repair or replace components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, wiring, and other key systems.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and software for precise assessments.
• Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and safety standards.
• Work with a service writer to create, track, and close out work orders, ensuring all tasks are accurately documented.
• Work closely with equipment operators to understand performance issues and recommend solutions.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations while maintaining a clean and hazard‑free shop environment.
