Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support utility construction across Minnesota and Wisconsin, operating heavy equipment and delivering safe, high-quality results.

Travel about 50% of the time and 50+ hours per week. Compensation ranges from $24 to $30 per hour, with benefits including a 401(k) match, ESPP, life insurance, disability coverage, and a boot voucher. MasTec is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on utility or civil sites.
• Experience with dozers, Plowcat/Pullcat preferred.
• Ability to read construction plans and maps.
• Willingness to travel within MN and WI and work 50+ hours/week

Responsibilities

• Support crew productivity while maintaining safety around underground utilities.
• Operate light and heavy construction equipment including backhoes, trenchers, cable plows, and other machinery.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Troubleshoot field issues to keep work on schedule.
• Read utility locates and markers to ensure safe excavation
