Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Dig trenches to the proper depth/grade with safety precautions.
• Backfill holes and compact earth for construction preparation.
• Avoid hazards and obstructions such as utility lines.
• Place water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipes in the excavation.
• Become familiar with digging plans and machine capabilities.
• Operator must observe hand signals and other markings.
• Perform minor maintenance on machines.
• Assist with traffic control devices.
