The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, relevant hands-on experience or apprenticeship, and a Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsement within six months. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with high school or equivalent.
• Experience or apprenticeship/internship, or 1-2 years in a similar position.
• Must possess or obtain a Class B driver’s license with air brakes and tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for repair and maintenance of city roads and streets.
• Participate in snow and ice removal operations; on-call 24/7 during winter, 12-hour shifts.
• Repair asphalt streets using paver, roller, durapatcher, hotbox and cold patch; seal cracks.
• Operate brine making equipment; run a street sweeper.
• Install traffic signs and pavement markings; maintain rights‑of‑way.
• Maintain and inspect assigned vehicles/equipment; perform pre- and post-trip checks.
• Set up and assist in traffic control at work sites.
