Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Operator in Wahpeton, ND. You will perform highway and structure maintenance, operate heavy equipment, and support snow/ice control and sign/guardrail work. Qualifications

• Valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) by first day of work.
• Two years of relevant experience or one year plus one season of winter operations similar to NDDOT.
• If no suitable candidate, may hire as Equipment Operator in Training with Class A permit and time to obtain full license.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to perform highway and roadside maintenance.
• Perform snow and ice control/removal and assist in maintaining highway signs and guardrails.
• Use power tools to complete maintenance tasks and keep roadways clear of hazards.
• Perform building/ground maintenance and routine maintenance on roadway and radio system equipment.
• Complete vehicle maintenance and required paperwork (time records, road reports, etc.).
• Receive training and perform construction project duties under supervision.
• Maintain a safe work environment for self and coworkers.
