Job summary

Nucor in Orlando, FL is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our scrap metal processing team. You will load scrap material, operate crushers and yard equipment, and maintain safety standards on a fast-paced site.

The role requires at least 3 years of experience with heavy equipment in manufacturing, the ability to follow written and oral instructions, and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays in outdoor conditions. Training and safety programs are provided.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operation in manufacturing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles and safety.
• Able to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Candidates within 50 miles of location preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including cranes and loaders.
• Load scrap material onto shredder feed and move material around yard.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report defects.
• Maintain safe housekeeping and communicate via radio.
• Cross-train in other positions as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
