Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator at the Arlington transfer station in Vermont.

You will operate yellow iron equipment safely, manage loading and truck movements, and help maintain clean, organized facilities to meet daily production goals. Starting pay is $25 per hour, with opportunities for growth as you gain experience through the Apprentice/Operator tracks, and you will join a safety‑driven team committed to reliable service.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to operate heavy equipment at a transfer station.
• Strong commitment to safety and proper PPE usage.
• Ability to follow schedules and directions from the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Opens and closes the facility according to scheduled hours of operation.
• Oversees the schedule of where and which trucks are to dump and switching out trailers.
• Ensures public areas of the transfer station stay clean according to daily/weekly/monthly schedules.
• Ensures customers use the transfer station according to safety rules and regulations.
• Meets loading schedules to ensure driver loads are ready to meet production.
• Directs incoming trucks to unloading areas in a safe manner.
• Follows safety and equipment checks in the performance of duties.
• Reports mechanical problems from inspections to the shop foreman.
• Participates in training and other learning opportunities to support company goals.
