Compensation and Benefits:
The full salary range for this position is $42,072.00 - $75,287.00 annually. The hiring range is $42,072-$55,358 annually, depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be assigned to the Residential section of Solid Waste and will primarily operate automated collection vehicles and knuckle boom collection vehicles. The position requires collecting approximately 1,000 automated containers per day. The employee may work with other crews in the residential collection section, which could include rear packer collection of yard waste and bulk items. The position may also require working during emergency situations such as snow events, tornadoes, or other weather-related emergencies with little or no notice.
The successful candidate should be able to independently locate addresses using a street guide or city map, use two-way radios, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and complete daily survey and vehicle inspection forms. They should work closely with all solid waste supervisors, be willing to assist wherever needed, and work independently under limited supervision.
Physical duties include stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, walking, sitting for long periods, hand-eye coordination, climbing, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may require a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
The employee must maintain reliable contact information for callbacks or emergencies and possess a CDL Class B unrestricted driver's license. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. The position is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
