The Town of Cohasset is seeking a qualified Heavy EquipmentOperator to join its team at the Recycling Transfer Facility. This positionplays a key role in supporting daily solid waste and recycling operationsthrough the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and generalfacility maintenance.
TheHeavy Equipment Operator performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled dutiesin support of public works operations, with a primary focus on solid waste andrecycling activities at the RTF. This position is responsible for operatingheavy equipment, assisting with disposal and recycling processes, andperforming routine maintenance and inspections on assigned equipment. The rolealso includes general labor duties as needed to support daily operations. Thisposition reports directly to the RTF Supervisor and plays a key role inmaintaining safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
A HighSchool diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of two (2) years of advancedtechnical or vocational training and experience in the operation of heavyequipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid DOTmedical card. Recycling and transfer facility employees must have a valid ClassB Commercial Driver’s License. Skilled experience in operating vehicles andequipment is required.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License ispreferred for Recycling and transfer facility employees. Knowledge ofdepartmental operations and safe and effective heavy equipment operationtechniques and practices is also preferred. Recycling and transfer facilityemployees are preferred to hold 2B, 4E, and 4G hoisting engineer’s licenses.
This is a full-time, benefited position classified as GradePW2-1, $29.38 per hour (with CDL) and Grade PW1-1, $26.72 per hour (without a CDL) with a 3% shift differential for weekend shifts. The Town of Cohasset offers a comprehensive benefits package.
A collective bargaining unit represents this position andis 40 hours per week, with a possible rotating weekend schedule.
