Job summary

Clean Harbors in Decatur, AL is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator - Rail Support at an on-site customer facility to operate heavy equipment to mobilize railcars throughout the site. Training will be provided by facility to operator railcar move.

This 12-hour swing shift (3 days on, 3 days off, 2 on, 2 off) provides on-site scheduling. Clean Harbors offers comprehensive health benefits after 30 days, significant growth opportunities, and company-paid training and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physical functions as required by the job.
• Willing to pass background check, drug test, and physical.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and safety as the #1 priority and operate safely per policies.
• Complete daily checklist for unit operation.
• Operate rail mover as needed around the plant site.
• Ensure safe operation in line with SOPs.
• Complete and submit paperwork for waste tracking movements.
• Comply with local, state/provincial and federal regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles per DOT and company rules.
• Be on call for rotating weekend railcar moves.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and always acting in a safe manner
• Completes daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated
• Operate rail mover from different positions throughout plant site per request/need
• Assures unit is never operated in an unsafe manner or in a manner which is inconsistent with Standard Operating Procedures
• Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required for waste tracking movements
• Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules.
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
• Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
• Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
• By position, ability to be on call for rotating weekend work for railcar moves as needed
