Job summary

The City of Boston is seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator to operate one or more heavy and special motor vehicles of five tons or more under general supervision. You will make minor adjustments to equipment and perform related tasks when not driving.

Candidates must have at least one year of experience and hold a valid Massachusetts commercial driver’s license. A strong emphasis on safety, the ability to work any shift, and residency in Boston are required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience operating heavy motor equipment.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Massachusetts commercial driver's license.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail.
• Ability to operate derrick truck, tractor, bulldozer, sander, plow, etc.
• Ability to make minor adjustments to equipment.
• Must be able to work any assigned shift in any area.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to implement them while operating machinery.
• Pre-employment physical and drug tests required.
