Job description

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 5pm - 5am

Pay: $27.70 per hour plus a night shift differential of $2.00 per hour

Martin Marietta is currently seeking a Dredge and Plant Operator responsible for operating heavy equipment and maintaining the plant. This role involves routine maintenance and repairs, including cutting and welding, in a hydraulic dredging environment. The primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently perform maintenance or repairs on all plant and mobile equipment, track maintenance and repair records, and use equipment such as skid steer, front end loader, and manlift. The operator will also be involved in cleaning around plant equipment, maintaining roadways and parking areas, and participating in safety inspections and plant safety programs.

Essential Functions

1. Operate a variety of equipment used in dredge mining
2. Perform daily inspections of equipment and work areas
3. Conduct repairs and routine maintenance on plant and mobile equipment
4. Maintain consistent and efficient operation of the plant
5. Inspect and lubricate equipment and plant operations
6. Diagnose issues and assist in troubleshooting when processes are interrupted
7. Test materials to maintain specifications (no DOT training necessary)
8. Perform preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections as needed
9. Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided
• Bilingual skills are a plus

Position Details

Type/Hours: Full-time position requiring long hours and weekend work

Working Conditions

This role involves operating large equipment, typically in air-conditioned environments. Outside assignments may require working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, or dry environments. Exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, and other elements is possible.
