Job summary

The Town of Chatham is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator/Mechanic in the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. The role includes engine, hydraulic and motor repair, routine maintenance, and operation of heavy machinery for drainage installation and road work.

Shifts include snow and ice operations with mandatory callbacks and overtime. Requires Class B Driver's License with tanker endorsement and hydraulic credentials.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment and performing mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of engines, hydraulics, and motors.
• Operate heavy machinery and perform related road and drainage work.
• Install and maintain drainage systems; resurfacing roads and sidewalks; maintain signage and visibility.
• Street cleaning and post-construction landscaping."
• Participate in snow and ice operations including snow removal, plowing, and sanding.
