Job summary

Medford Township Public Works is seeking a full-time Driver/Operator to operate dump trucks, backhoes, and other equipment in support of water, wastewater, and road maintenance. The role requires a valid NJ CDL Class B with air-brake qualifications and the ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.

Responsibilities include inspections, transporting materials, and assisting in emergency responses and snow operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, or construction equipment.
• Ability to safely operate assigned vehicles and equipment and follow applicable traffic and safety requirements.
• Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher, with air-brake qualification and a driving record acceptable to the Township.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather and emergency conditions.
• Preferred: Class A Commercial Driver's License, tanker endorsement, and prior municipal, construction, snow-removal, or utility-operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, tractors, utility vehicles, and other Township equipment.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns.
• Transport materials, equipment, supplies, and personnel to and from work sites.
• Support road maintenance, drainage, brush collection, utility construction, and water and wastewater field operations.
• Operate snowplows, spreaders, and related equipment during snow and ice operations.
• Perform routine equipment care, cleaning, lubrication, and minor maintenance.
• Assist with storm response, utility emergencies, traffic control, manual labor, and other Township operations.
