Job Description
This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of three thousand dollars ($3000.00) upon completion of the probationary period. The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant. The hiring incentive is not available to current City employees. This position also has an On-Call rate of $70.00 per shift.

Incumbents in this position are responsible for operating heavy automotive vehicles that lift and load refuse, yard waste and recycling containers into trucks and then driving it to a landfill.

Qualifications
Two years of experience driving heavy automotive equipment. Successful completion of a Commercial Driver’s License training program may substitute for one year of the required experience. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferences:
A CDL Class A OR previous experience operating refuse equipment is preferred.
License: Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) while employed by the City of St. Louis. Candidates that have a CDL permit at the time of hire must obtain a valid CDL (Class A or B) as a condition of successfully completing their working test period. Some positions may require incumbents to possess a Class A CDL before completion of their working test period. Please note type of license, number, class, expiration date and State where issued on the Employment Application.

City Residence Preference Points
City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
