Job description

Overview

Summary

Operates light to heavy vehicles and equipment in the installation, maintenance and repair functions associated with the assigned functional area. Assists with labor intensive, complex construction, maintenance and repair work; works independently or as part of a work crew in installation, maintenance and repair activities in the management and care of infrastructure and properties. Operates equipment that includes, but is not limited to, backhoes, Motorgrader, compactors, trenching machines, potholing machines, bulldozers, water trucks, front-end loaders, excavators, scrapers, brush-clearing equipment, and hand tools.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Operates equipment in accordance with company procedure.
  2. Learns and follows safety regulations.
  3. Performs daily safety and maintenance checks.
  4. Participates in routine maintenance of equipment.
  5. Able to respond to emergency and after-hour calls on nights, weekends and holidays.
  6. Identifies potential hazards during installation, maintenance and repair projects; determines appropriate equipment operating procedures accordingly.
  7. Performs in the safe and proper operation of tools, vehicles and equipment; adheres to prescribed safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  8. Participates in work-site safety set-up, e.g., setting barricades and cones, prepping for excavation, assisting with utility locates, prepping for confined space entry in accordance with SOP safety standards.
  9. May perform duties of Equipment Operator I, II or Roustabout.
  10. Work directly with Supervisor to assist with field crews or subcontractors and perform specialty programs.
  11. Assumes Foreman responsibilities in his/her absence.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver's license.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to work and communicate well with others. Must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule. Able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves and others.

Other Qualifications

General knowledge of the oil and gas industry. Experience operating construction equipment and/or manual labor/maintenance tasks related to the assignment area. Good mechanical aptitude. Motor vehicle record (MVP) reflecting no convictions for recurring or serious violations or accidents.
