A municipality is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to handle maintenance and construction of road and drainage infrastructure. The role involves operating various construction equipment, performing routine maintenance, and requires a high school diploma or GED along with a Texas Class B CDL. Job Title: HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
PAY GRADE: 112 - $35,884.00 minimum salary
Performs technical work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of road and drainage infrastructure. Responsibilities include maintaining existing roadways, drainage structures, and grounds, performing routine maintenance, identifying corrective actions, answering maintenance questions, and maintaining repair records.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED plus four (4) years of experience in technical or repair work with road construction equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank and air brakes endorsements. Hazardous Material Endorsements are preferred.
Physical Ability: Ability to exert medium physical effort, including lifting (up to 100 pounds), carrying, pushing, and pulling objects. Tasks may involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
Sensory Requirements: Ability to perceive sounds and visual cues; communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to adverse conditions such as damp surfaces, fumes, odors, flammable liquids, and high noise levels.
This position is subject to a six-month probationary period and must pass a drug and alcohol evaluation.
