Job summary

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service within the Department of the Interior seeks an Engineering Equipment Operator in Tallulah, LA. The role involves operating a wide range of heavy equipment and performing maintenance on facilities and equipment.

Weekend work may be required, and new federal hires start at the step 1 wage. Major duties include operating excavators, dozers, graders, and trucks, plus tools and welding equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL with Class A endorsement.
• Background investigation and favorable adjudication required.
• U.S. Citizenship or national status required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of tracked and wheeled heavy equipment (excavators, dump trucks, motor-grader, tractors).
• Perform basic electrical, mechanical, welding, and carpentry maintenance on buildings and equipment.
• Repair equipment by checking fluids, lubricating, replacing parts, and rebuilding components.
• Assist in ditch cleaning, culvert installation, and trail/fire break maintenance.
