Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to load, push and transfer solid waste at our transfer station. The ideal candidate will work well in a team and be self-motivated, maintaining a professional operation daily.

The role requires 18+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of Equipment Operator experience; fluency in English is required, Spanish a plus. Candidates with sanitation industry experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED completed; higher education is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Equipment Operator required; sanitation industry preferred.
• Fluency in English required; Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty equipment such as excavators and bucket loaders (yellow iron); other small machinery as needed.
• Routinely set up and inspect equipment prior to operation.
• Understand machine capabilities and limitations; use signals and markings to guide work.
• Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings to comply with safety specs while operating machines.
• Receive written and oral instruction regarding material movement and workflow.
• Move materials over short distances, around the facility; maintain efficient flow and target load weights.
