The Heavy Equipment Operator- Drainage earns a competitive salary of$20.18 - $21.85 /hourlybased on qualifications. Additionally, thecity pays all premiumsfor our employees'dental, long-term disability protection, and life insuranceplus themajority portion of the medical premiumfor employees and their dependents. A DAY IN LIFE AS A HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR- Drainage
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, drives truck and operates motorized equipment with capacity of more than 3 tons to swab ditches, set culverts and perform various other public works street maintenance and construction by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
Regular and timely attendance at work.
Drive and operate trucks and other motorized equipment such as dump trucks, front loader, backhoe, gradall, or excavator, and combination cleaner/vac truck.
Work with crews to dig, hoist, and/or haul materials.
Assist with various semi-skilled and unskilled duties such as loading and unloading materials.
Inspect and service equipment daily by checking tires, lights, brakes, gas, water, oil, hydraulic coolant, fittings, diesel grease, and perform other minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.
Serves as "essential personnel" and is required to remain available for immediate call-in due to any natural or man-made disaster, or any other event the Public Works Director or City Manager deem necessary.
Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years' experience in drainage system maintenance and construction including some operation of heavy equipment is preferred.
Special Licenses and Certifications:
A Valid Texas Driver's License
CDL Class B with "N" Endorsement
