Overview

Beitzel Corporation is seeking full-time, experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Civil Services team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic who take pride in operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently in demanding environments. Candidates must have experience operating at least one of the following: a dozer, excavator, or front-end loader. The position involves working on various industrial and construction projects, including construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, power, solar, wind energy, and aggregate industries.

This role requires extensive overnight and out-of-town travel, with operators prepared to work away from home for extended periods. A flexible schedule is essential, as shifts may include long hours, weekends, holidays, and occasional night work, depending on project needs. As part of a field crew, the Heavy Equipment Operator will assist with site preparation, excavation, trenching, grading, and other civil construction activities under the supervision of a Foreman or Supervisor. Operators are expected to prioritize safety, equipment maintenance, and teamwork, while delivering high-quality results according to Beitzel Corporation’s standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery (excavator, dozer, etc.), move and unload trucks, clean equipment, perform general and skilled labor, and other duties as needed.
• Ensure safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and buried lines prior to digging.
• Follow trenching and shoring standards.
• Inspect and maintain equipment as required.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Sit, talk, hear, read, and write.
• Walk regularly; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Kneel, stoop, bend, squat, and climb ladders.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Perform duties on-site, including on uneven terrain.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of civil experience operating equipment such as dozer, excavator, or front-end loader.
• Proficiency in fine grading.
• Experience with machinery equipped with GPS systems.
• Experience working around utilities.
• Experience in mass excavation and grading.
• Experience installing SWPP controls.
