Job summary

City of Daphne, Alabama is seeking a hardworking individual to operate heavy equipment and perform manual tasks for city streets, drainage, parks, and other city facilities. This role requires strong safety awareness and basic arithmetic skills.

Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training in mechanics and at least three years of heavy equipment experience. A valid Alabama driver’s license and CDL (Class A or B) are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational/technical training in mechanics.
• 3 years experience in heavy equipment operation and road maintenance/construction.
• Valid Alabama driver’s license and CDL (Class A or B) required.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment and vehicles used in road construction and maintenance.
• Transports, loads and unloads materials and equipment.
• Performs manual work and assists with construction/maintenance projects.
• Assists in locating underground utilities prior to work.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance and safety checks.
• Coordinates traffic control and assists with events.
• Responds to emergencies during severe weather or other incidents.
• Completes forms and reports and communicates status to supervisor.
