Job summary

Town of Marblehead seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a wide range of construction and road-maintenance machinery and to support the CDL program. The role involves hands-on equipment operation, emergency response, and field instruction under supervision of senior staff.

The successful candidate will work with the Public Works Department, contribute to snow removal and storm response, and help maintain fleet and job-site safety here in Marblehead.

Qualifications

• High school degree (GED) with 4 years of related experience.
• Valid Hoisting Engineer (Hydraulic Machinery) License 2A,1C,4G issued by MA.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License issued by MA.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment including backhoe, loader, grader, roller, and more for construction, maintenance and emergency work.
• Supports multiple divisions of Public Works (Highway, Drain, Tree, Fleet).
• Serves as field instructor for the Town's CDL program and oversees pre-trip inspections and licensing requirements.
