Job summary

The City of Griffin seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator/Maintenance Technician to support construction and maintenance of city properties, streets, stormwater, water and wastewater systems, and landscaping. Responsibilities include operating a broad mix of heavy equipment, performing inspections, and ensuring safety on all sites.

Applicants should have a Class B CDL, at least 18 months of equipment operation experience, and be prepared to stand-by during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid State of Georgia Class “B” CDL with acceptable driving history.
• Experience operating heavy equipment listed in job duties.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Must communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles.
• Perform pre-trip and daily inspections; log maintenance needs.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and fuel/clean equipment.
• Load and haul materials to and from job sites.
• Follow safety procedures and assist with safety equipment maintenance.
• Possess flagging duties for work zones as needed.
