Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Building Construction & Facility Maintenance, this position will be responsible for operating heavy equipment such as tractors, dump trucks, skidders, and loaders as needed. The candidate should have the skill set and willingness to be flexible and adaptable to take on other projects, including light electrical work, carpentry, and plumbing.

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Operate trucks of various sizes and weights for loading, hauling, and unloading equipment, materials, and supplies.
2. Operate construction or power equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, backhoes, man-lifts, dump trucks, road graders, front-end loaders, and excavators.
3. Use small equipment and tools like jackhammers, mowers, and brush chippers to maintain street and utility systems.
4. Assist in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting materials, tools, and equipment with backhoes, road graders, or front-end loaders.
5. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, report defects or repairs, and clean equipment.
6. Perform carpentry and plumbing tasks as needed.
7. Adhere to safety and security standards in all duties.
8. Willingness to work six (6) days a week, possibly extending to seven (7) days as required.
9. Be self-motivated to see projects through to completion.
10. Perform other errands and duties as assigned by the Director of Building Construction & Facility Maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience operating a variety of heavy equipment.
• High School Diploma preferred but not required.
• Experience in carpentry and plumbing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency.
• Ability to plan and respond strategically to unexpected changes.
• Positive attitude and innovative thinking to improve efficiency.
• “Own It” mentality with a mission-driven approach.
• Effective multi-tasking abilities.
• Self-motivated with the ability to operate trade tools.
• Ability to work overtime, including emergencies and during inclement weather.
