Our environment encourages individual growth and innovative thought. We are seeking Heavy Duty Equipment Operators for projects in the Greater Baton Rouge to New Orleans Areas.

Position Description

Heavy Duty Equipment Operators should have a minimum of three years of experience in the seat of bull dozers & excavators. A Heavy Duty Equipment Operator will be able to provide rough and finish grades with bulldozers & similar equipment along with excavator experience providing underground trenching for water and sewer installations. Qualified candidates will also have experience in setting and establishing grades using rotating lasers and GPS systems including machine control.

Position Requirements
  • Operates Excavators, Dozers, & other Grading Equipment to cut/fill grade as they spread and level dirt and gravel to specifications.
  • Can read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Can shoot grade with rotating lasers and site levels.
  • Experience working in Greenfield, Heavy Highway, & Industrial settings Civil Construction projects.
  • Experience in a variety of Civil Site Scopes of Work including mass excavation, mass embankment & grading, rough and fine grading, large diameter pipe installation, subsurface utility probing and installation, dressing back of curb, sloping, establishment of drainage, & stockpiling of materials.
  • Ability to appropriately excavate at borrow and aggregate loading sites, establish & maintain off-road trucking routes to and from loading site, & load various types of dump trucks with borrow & aggregate.
  • Experience working on and performing daily inspections and maintenance on a variety of Excavators, Dozers, Front-End Loaders, Packers, and tools necessary in the assistance of the job.
  • Performs pre and post inspections and performs minor maintenance of the equipment.
  • Performs assignments as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
  • Be a team player, with a willingness to assist in a variety of roles on the site.
  • Performs general labor duties when necessary, involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
  • Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
