Job summary

Town of Wellesley is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator for the Highway Division. The operator will run and maintain vehicles and equipment, perform street and sidewalk work, and assist in snow removal, ice control, standby, and emergency duties.

Requirements include a MA Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements, a High School diploma or equivalent, and the ability to obtain Hoisting Engineer’s License classes 1C, 2B and 4E within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Valid MA Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain Hoisting Engineer’s License classes 1C, 2B and 4E within six months of hire.
• Experience operating Class B vehicles and medium equipment.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles.

The incumbent operates and maintains vehicles and equipment; performs semi-skilled building and construction work on streets, sidewalks, catch basins, etc.; and is required to participate in snow removal, ice control, standby, emergency, and call-in duty. Ensure proper operation of all equipment and follow all required safety procedures.

The incumbent must possess a valid MA Class B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements. Other requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent; a good employment record; the possession of or ability to obtain a valid a Hoisting Engineer’s License classes 1C, 2B and 4E within six months of hire; proficiency in the operation of Class B vehicles and medium equipment; and the ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions and use hand and power tools.

Salary range is $24.51- $33.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
