The Walsh Group is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Elbow Rd Project in Virginia Beach, VA. The position involves operating a variety of heavy equipment at the jobsite to construct, maintain, or repair infrastructure, while complying with safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of equipment to clear land, move materials, and transport dirt, rocks, and aggregates.
  • Follows procedures for loading/unloading materials and maintains safety checks.
  • Performs routine maintenance and documents required paperwork.
  • Works on site amidst noise and vibration and reports issues.
  • Performs additional tasks as needed to support the jobsite.

OVERVIEW

Archer Western Construction is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Elbow Rd Project, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Primary function is to operate a variety of Heavy Equipment at the site of work to construct, maintain, or repair highway, heavy civil, or building type structures; equipment operators are also expected to assist in other duties around the jobsite as needed; operates equipment in compliance with company operating safety, policies, and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates a variety of Equipment to complete tasks such as clearing land, trimming backfill, and to move and/or transport materials such as dirt, rocks, and other types of aggregate.
  • Must have knowledge of operating procedures as it pertains to loading and unloading materials.
  • May oil, grease, service, and make normal maintenance adjustments on equipment; performs daily safety and maintenance checks; completes paperwork and other documentation as required.
  • May be some vibration associated with equipment operation; jolts and vibrations may result from operating equipment; loud noise when operating equipment.
  • May perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of operating experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
